Uniabuja Abductees Regain Freedom
Police on Friday have confirmed the release of Uniabuja abductees.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, confirmed this in a statement on Friday morning.
The statement read: “The FCT Police Command wishes to inform members of the public that all abducted victims of the University of Abuja were rescued and reunited with their families through a joint operation with other security agencies. More details coming soon.”
This is a sequel to the 48 hours ultimatum given to the police by Academic Staff Union of Universities (chapter of the Uniabuja) to rescue the people.
According to the chairperson of the University of Abuja chapter of ASUU, Dr. Kasim Umar, lecturers had stopped going to classrooms because of the incident which had traumatised them.
TOS NEWS reported that gunmen invaded the staff quarters of the institution located at the GIRI area of the FCT in the early hours of Tuesday . The gunmen kidnapped six people, according to FCT Police Command.
