The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has said that its operatives did not carry out any operation in the home of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili.
This was disclosed by the spokesman for the commission, Wilson Uwujaren in a statement titled ‘EFCC Did Not Carry Out Any Operation in Justice Odili’s Home’ on Friday in Abuja.
According to the spokesman, the information being spread by a section of the media over the development is false.
“The attention of EFCC has been drawn to claims in a section of the media that its operatives of the commission today, October 29, 2021 stormed the Maitama, Abuja home of a judge of the Supreme Court Justice Mary Odili purportedly to execute a search.
“The commission by this statement wishes to inform the public that the report is false as it did not carry out any operation at the home of Justice Odili.
“If there was any such operation as claimed by the media, it was not carried out by the EFCC.
“The commission enjoins the public to discountenance the report,” he said.
The Chairman of the EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa had also denied the allegations that his operatives carried out the raid.
Security operatives had allegedly laid siege on Justice Odili’s Maitama residence in Abuja yesterday for more than four hours in connection to unspecified illegal activities.
The Supreme Court Judge is the wife of former Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Peter Odili.
