
A receptionist at Hilton Hotel, Ile-Ife, Magdalene Chiefuna revealed to the Osun State High Court presided over by Chief Justice Oyebola Ojo on Wednesday, that she took an oath of confidentiality with the Managing Director of the hotel, Raheem Adedoyin to conceal the death of master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Timothy Adegoke, so it will not affect the business of the hotel.
Chiefuna who was led in evidence by Kunle Adegoke (SAN), explained how she took over from Adesola Adedeji, the 7th defendant, and discovered that the occupant of Room 305 was not seen until the following day, November 7, when she got the extra key from the housekeeper and opened the door.
At the continued hearing on the murder case, a consultant pathologist, Prof Segun Ojo, also led in evidence by Kunle Adegoke (SAN), counsel to the 2nd, 4th and 5th defendant, said it was impossible to ascertain what killed the student.
On November 5, Timothy, an Abuja-based student travelled to Ife to take an examination at the school’s distance learning center in Moro, Osun State. His body was found buried by the hotel management in a shallow grave without the knowledge of his family or the police.
Adedoyin, the owner of the Hilton Hotel and Resort, Ile-Ife alongside Adedeji Adesola, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwale Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle, and others at large, were charged with an attempted felony, conspiracy, unlawful interference with Adegoke’s corpse, tampering with the hotel’s receipt and CCTV camera with the intent to destroy evidence that would prove that the victim visited the hotel.
