Three Peoples Democratic Party governors arrived in Anambra State on Sunday night for the state congress slated for Monday (today). The congress is a build-up to the November 18 governorship poll in the state.
The governors are Nyesom Wike, Ayo Fayose and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Rivers, Ekiti and Enugu states respectively.
The Anambra State Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee, Prof. ABC Nwosu, told journalisits that the governors would conduct ward congresses of the party in the 326 wards in the state to produce delegates who would elect the governorship candidate of the party on August 26.
Nwosu said, “The three governors are mandated by the party to lead the conduct of the party’s congress for the nomination of three delegates each from the 326 wards of Anambra State, which will hold on Monday.”
Nwosu said there would be a credible ward congress and primary election of the party in the state.
“We have been meeting stakeholders and members of the party in the state, and we have assured them that the process would be fair.
“We are in Anambra to ensure that we restore the political process in the state, and we are surprised that our people have been seeking to bend the rule. We have been fair to all and I can tell you that no one can purchase us.”
